What mobile devices does the Owlcam app Support?

Mobile devices Owlcam supports:

  • iOS 11 (iPhone 6 and later)
  • Android Oreo/Pie (we support Google Pixel 2/2XL, Samsung Galaxy S8/S9, and LG V30)

Application won’t download.

Check your phones OS and make sure it’s up to date:

  • Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 11 or later. Tap settings > general > software update.
  • Make sure your Android device is running Oreo or Pie

Application is not launching.

Restart your phone. If that doesn’t work, uninstall the Owlcam app and download it again.

Unable to find the app in the App Store or Google Play Store.

On an Owlcam supported mobile device search for “Owlcam”. You will be able to locate the app in the mobile devices Owlcam supports:

  • iOS 11 (iPhone 6 and later)
  • Android Oreo or Pie (we support Google Pixel 2/2XL, Samsung Galaxy S8/S9, and LG V30)

Clips are not deleting.

Refresh the Owlcam app by closing it and reopening it.

Unable to share clips.

Make sure the video plays in your clips section before sharing. Sharing to Owlcam news gives you a loading screen and progress bar letting you know that we are preparing your video for sharing to Owlcam news. You want to make sure it completes before leaving the app.

I sent a clip via text but the recipient can’t view the clip.

If the recipient is unable to load a clip shared via text, please resend the clip. This is also dependent on network coverage. When you share a clip via text it downloads the clip from the cloud then sends as a text.

App is not scanning QR code.

In the rare case that the Owlcam app won’t scan the QR Code and pair, try one of the following:

  • Close the Owlcam app and reopen it.
  • Restart your phone.
  • Uninstall the Owlcam app, then reinstall it on your iPhone.

Live view has a delay.

There is a slight delay due to the time it takes to transfer data from your Owlcam to your phone.

Live view isn’t responding.

If live view is not responding it means you are in an area with poor cellular or network connection.

My clips aren’t uploading to the Clips section of the app.

This is dependent on your network coverage, with the Owlcam and your iPhone. When you have a stronger connection the clips with automatically load in the Owlcam app.

How do I recover a clip I deleted?

You can look for the clip using the History feature if you created the clip recently.

How long are my clips saved?

The clips you create are available for 60 days in the Owlcam app on your iPhone unless you save them or share them.

What is the longest clip you can create from History?

Up to a 5 min clip that will be saved directly to your Camera Roll.

What is History?

The History feature allows you to review saved footage on your Owlcam and create clips that you can download and share.

When do I get Instant Video Alerts?

When parked, if your Owlcam is triggered, you will get a push notification on your phone and the video will be available in Clips (and viewable in History).

Instant Video Alerts are sent for larger events that are more likely to cause damage like bumps, crashes, and break-ins.

Yellow Notifications are for smaller movements and events like you getting into your own car.
