New Sound

While Wally and Theodore are out seeking their own territories, one of the adults has been doing a terrific imitation of a coyote for the last couple of nights. Coyotes are fairly common in this area, and I would not have recognized this sound (135KB)  as an owl if it had not continued beyond the first note. The sequence ends with a call that June sometimes made when Ward arrived at the nest with food after a long absence. This real coyote (138KB) was recorded near the nest last fall.
