As the owlets
mature and need less care, June has started to do a little hunting in her own front yard.
First, she perched silently in her doorway and scanned the area until an unsuspecting
rodent happened by. She then launched herself, spread her almost four-foot wings, and
glided silently toward her intended prey. Her reward was a fresh meal on her favorite
perch. June's keen hearing, extraordinary vision and silent flight make her one of
the most effective hunters in the world.
