| Wally took his first faltering steps yesterday before falling down and being pulled back for more brooding by June. As he sits beside his mother in the top picture, it is obvious that he has a lot of growing to do in the next three weeks. He should be getting much more active and visible in the next few days. Theodore, who is seen reaching for food in the lower picture, is much smaller than Wally, even though he is only one day younger. This suggests that he has not been getting as much food as Wally, which is often the case with the youngest owlet. He is not able to demand the attention that the older owlet gets. Theodore should catch up in a few weeks. Ward had an excellent night hunting and was able to make at least five deliveries. Most of them were followed by Wally's wheezing, Theodore's peeping and June's strange chattering sound. June started the day with two mice and one Cardinal in her nest. She is now brooding both owlets, but will probably let Wally get out for a while later today. There was no sign of the Great Horned Owl last night. | ![]() |
