Ward
hunted through most of the daylight hours today and it paid off big. By
3pm he had brought in two squirrels, two short tailed shrews, and a vole.
The owlets are shown here leaning against one of the squirrels while June
was out celebrating their good fortune as Ward delivered another shrew.
While June was out, Dexter and Daphne -- shown wrestling in front -- took
turns pushing each other over, while Woody just leaned against the
squirrel and waited for June to come back. With so much food in reserve,
there were frequent feeding sessions which typically lasted for about 15
minutes. Woody slept through a couple of them, but seems to be getting
enough and should be OK if Ward can continue at this pace. Ward has made
three additional deliveries since sunset, which should add even more to
their stockpile. |
