After
waiting all day for a food delivery that never came, Abigail decided that
it was time to make a move. That's her on your left, pushing Emmett aside
to start the trip that would mean a new life outside the nest. After
landing on the rail, she came very close to falling, but flapped her wings
confidently to regain her balance. As she walked from one end of the owl
rail to the other, she appeared to be confused about what to do next. How
do you get off of this thing when you are not yet able to fly? About that
time Ernie came charging up the owlet steps and took his place next to
Emmett. Being stuck in the doorway next to his younger brother was
apparently too much for Emmett who quickly made his own move to the rail. |
Just
as Emmett was gaining his balance, Ward showed up with a mouse, but seemed
surprised and unable to deal with the unruly mob that faced him. After
pushing through the older owlets as he is seen doing here, he tried to
drop it through the door, but gave up and flew away with the mouse when
Ernie would not cooperate. The owlets snapped their beaks and wheezed
wildly as he flew away, but were quieted when June returned with it
seconds later. She gave it to Abigail (as shown below) who downed it
promptly. June then flew away and left the owlets alone to solve their
problem.
