Perfectly Groomed

After a night of almost continuous feeding, June started the day by cleaning the owlets up. She is shown here preening Emmett (the big one on in the middle) and Abigail while a sleepy Ernie wakes up to wait his turn. The owlets would be a mess if June did not spend hours each day in this grooming activity. There is no food left in the nest this morning, but June is not complaining. The record breaking heat that is predicted for today should allow her to make several hunting trips. A brave (or stupid) squirrel is chattering loudly near the nest box and June has looked in its direction several times.
