June offered a much better
view when she ate the snake a couple of hours later. The checkerboard pattern
that you saw in the previous picture was apparently a milk snake's belly. This
is its back. She was in the process of swallowing it whole when this picture was
taken. The milk snake is a nocturnal snake which would explain why Ward was able
to catch it at night. Other snakes on their menu are usually caught in the
daytime.
