I
have not seen the owlets since June moved them deeper into the woods last
week, but sometimes hear the three of them wheezing in the distance. This
picture of Seymour was taken on the perch where he spent his second day
out of the nest. While he is standing here, he spent most of the day
resting by draping himself over the branch as young owls often do. June
moved the owlets the next day by calling to them from nearby branches
until they fluttered toward her. Sometimes they made it to the next branch
and sometimes they landed on the ground and had to climb back up; but they
gradually moved deeper into the woods. I hope to see more of them as they
develop their flying skills, but that is up to June. Judging from the
amount of hooting and wheezing that I am hearing, I would guess that they
are doing very well. |
