I was quite surprised to find Rufus still in the nest box at dawn. He spent more than an hour in the doorway yesterday and was still there at sunset. While he has not yet dared to jump down to the owl rail, his confidence is growing and I expect him to make his big move very soon. Emily has watched him calmly from the floor of the nest box, but Seymour has not taken it so well. He has been wheezing continuously and doing his frogman routine for much longer periods of time. It is the same frustration that Theodore exhibited two years ago when Wally started spending a lot of time in the doorway. Things have been relatively quiet this morning with only one brief trip to the door by Rufus, but I expect more activity this afternoon.
