Sleeping Chaos

Don't be fooled by what appears to be a peaceful bunch of owlets huddled together in the middle of the nest box. They are ready to explode at the slightest provocation. In the instance pictured below, they are reacting to a small branch falling on the roof which they mistook for a food delivery. That's Seymour in the rear reaching up and trying to push Emily because she is standing in front of the door. Rufus, who was napping and may have suspected a false alarm, was a little slower to react but soon joined in the wild scuffle. It took them five minutes to calm down again.

June joined Ward in the hunting for most of the night and between them they delivered an incredible amount of food. They started with twelve deliveries between 8:30pm and midnight, but then made only four additional deliveries for the remainder of the night. Since neither of the adults entered the nest to supervise, I assume that they were accommodating Seymour by providing more food than the older owlets could eat. They all look fine this morning and June is taking advantage of the warmer weather to get out of the nest and sun herself.
