June now
has two eggs to incubate and she is taking her job very seriously. She has
only left the nest three times in the last twenty four hours and each
departure was limited to less than ten minutes. This means that Ward is now doing all of the hunting for the
family and will face his toughest test in the next six weeks. Catching
twice as much food as normal will be difficult, but his three years of
experience in this territory should give him the edge he needs. He called
home twice today with his classic hoot and made his first food delivery of
the day just two hours after dark. June seems more comfortable in the nest
now and spent most of her day sleeping on her two eggs. |
