While
June continues to incubate her eggs, Ward took a well deserved rest from a
very difficult but successful night. He somehow managed to defy the wind
and rain to deliver five meals before dawn. I was able to get this picture
of him on his treetop perch this morning because he has started roosting
closer to the nest box as the big event approaches. I'm beginning to
think that the 35 day period between the laying and hatching of the first
egg in 1998 may not have been so unusual. That same delay this year would
equate to a first hatching on Thursday, the 27th. Our weather is supposed
to improve this week, so that Ward should have an easier time providing
food. |
